Mobility will be the challenge of the future for both large cities and small regions. How and where can people find the most convenient way to get to their destination? Is it mass transit, a private vehicle, city bicycle, ride sharing or a combination of these? The role of ultrafine particles (UFP), i.e. particles with less than 100 nm diameter to health and climate starts to be well understood. More research is still required e.g. for reducing the sensitivity of climate models to such particles, but this research is well managed by us Finns. My passion is to save energy. This affects my way of living and also, perhaps subconsciously, my choices for hobbies. I have chosen sailing instead of motor boating and cross country skiing instead of downhill skiing. I try to cut down my energy usage as much as possible at home but my energy bill always makes a reasonable dent in my finance. This might change in the future as Europe is moving toward near zero energy houses (NZEH) after 2020.
