He is also managing director of EcoPlan International, an independent advisory network providing strategic counsel for government and business on policy and decision issues involving complex systems, social-technical change and sustainable development.

Eric’s work over this last decade focuses on the complex interface of climate, mobility, equity, environment, economy, and active citizenry issues.

Eric is the project lead of ”The 2020 World Climate/Mobility Emergency Action Plan – The Five Percent Challenge” project.

”The basic concept behind the challenge is, intellectually at least, very simple. Namely, to identify, coordinate, and put to work a strategic complex ecosystem or package of proven, street-tested, cost-effective measures, tools and means specifically to reduce GHG emissions from the mobility sector in a cooperating city, place or activity by a targeted five percent in the first year”, he says.

”That said, turning from the drawing board to the busy conflicted streets of the city on the other hand, is highly demanding and requires considerable technical competence, abundant political savvy and leadership with a real flair,” he continues.
