Rahim Jindani is an expert in fibers and polymers. His interests are in the use of fibers and polymers for product development.

“I specialize in developing medical devices for biomedical applications and different applications. As a textile chemist, I worked on reducing water use to dye fabrics in my previous research work. Later, I had the chance to work as an engineer to develop wound care products for burn wound patients.”

In his Ph.D. work, Rahim was looking at creating high surface area fabrics and structures that would enable cells to regenerate and create an environment conducive to tissue engineering.

Rahim says that as an expert in using polymers, fibers, and materials either developed naturally or synthetically, it is essential, especially in today’s world, that sustainable solutions are developed which would allow in reducing the overall carbon output and depletion of the ozone layer.

“I believe we all live on one planet, and it is important for us to protect and ensure a sustainable industrial and community revolution to enable a climate-resilient environment that will consider less wastage and greater thought on circular economy models.”

Rahim is working towards developing my skillset as an environmental social governance specialist whereby I can help mitigate companies with my technical skills related to textiles, polymers, and coatings use while ensuring that the products and developments can provide in improving all the three scopes which need to be addressed to serve in its completeness.

“In my field of study whereby product development is important. Fiber, polymers, and materials can be utilized in health care, fashion, and construction. Still, it is often important to create systems that consider utilizing every valuable resource emitted from the system.”

Rahim continues that a closed system that uses the current generated waste bi-product in creating future bio-based materials and resources will prevent ozone layer depletion. Still, more health risks, such as smog, observed mainly at higher altitudes since the air density is lower, will have better opportunities to create and sustain solutions allowing a better planet.

Rahim adds that we are all humans, and mistakes are part of life.

“Let’s utilize our strengths and capacities to solve our challenges.”
