Basem Abu Sneineh

“Working in the field of waste management for over ten years with a serious feeling of responsibility towards the environment, solving challenges is an essential part of my everyday work while problem-solving ability is an extremely critical pre-requisite for every step that has a long-term effect.”

He has been an ISWA member since 2015, and also awarded with the title of “Chartered Environmentalist” in 2014 from The Society for the Environment, UK.

Basem received the Industrial Engineering degree from the Jordan University for Science & Technology (JUST) in 2008. He has also been the General Waste Recovery Department Manager in The Sharjah Environment Company “Bee’ah”, UAE.

Basem says that he constantly wants to expand his experience and improve his skills.

He adds that since environmental management is relatively a new field in the world, a special problem solver is a necessity for successful achievement.

While so many factors and variables play a role; social awareness, technical advancements, proper management and many more, problem solving becomes a really complex task because all these factors and variables are to be considered comprehensively, he says.

The more integrated and comprehensive the solution is, the more successful it will be.

“However, a great problem solver should always evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented solution, ensure that it delivered the expected outcomes and learn from his previous experiences.”
