Eugene Itua – Promoting the highest standards of practice in the circular economy field

Eugene Itua is an established safeguard specialist with a Ph.D. in environmental management.

Eugene is a fellow of several organizations, such as the Nigerian Environmental Society, the Society of Environmental Management and Pollution Control, the Institute of Data Processing Management of Nigeria, and the Occupational Safety and Health Association.

Over the years, Eugene has demonstrated strong professional effectiveness and knowledge of the environmental and social safeguard requirements of many project portfolios and the implementation needs of several development partners.

“The greatest challenge is helping business leaders to see further the need for mainstreaming natural capital in their business strategy, especially the financial sectors.”

Eugene is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Branch of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and a UNEP Live Community of Practice member focusing on emerging issues, including integrated measures for monitoring and early warning systems in Africa.

“I have also prepared the National Natural Capital Action Plan, Natural Capital Baseline Study in Nigeria for Globe International in support of World Summit of Legislators.”

In addition, Eugene is a recipient of several awards, such as the 2012 West African HSE Top Entrepreneur Icon Award in Ghana, the Global Leader of Integrity Merit Award in Nigeria, and the 2014 African and Caribbean Business Council Award for Entrepreneurship in Philadelphia, USA.
