Ulrike Glatz – Redesigning systems, shifting mindsets, and utilizing capital and technology to serve people and planet
Sep 29th 2023

Ulrike Glatz says that her passion is redesigning systems, shifting mindsets, and utilizing capital and technology to serve people and planet. Nobody can do this alone. It is a matter of conscious citizens and organizations joining hands across sectors and borders, Ulrike says.

“I believe that we, as human beings, have an immense creative power, and which better application area would there be than using this creativity to question the status quo and to redesign the way we do things so that it directly addresses our most urgent environmental and societal challenges? I am very motivated to do so as I want to preserve the amazing beauty of our planet and I am tired of seeing unnecessary suffering in a world where we have sufficient capital, highly developed technology, and deep knowledge to reduce if not eradicate such suffering. However, I also believe that it’s not only an external action journey but first and foremost an internal transformation journey that we all must go through – individually and as organizations.”
Ulrike has founded Global Impact Alliance with a wonderful team. She also serves as the Director of Glatz Impact Ventures as an Impact Advisor.
“I work with a wide variety of clients, such as social impact entrepreneurs, foundations, impact funds, government programs and family offices to reach their impact objectives within the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, framework.”
She is also teaching business ethics at the ESCP Business School in Berlin.
Ulrike says that it is important to spend a significant amount of time on going to the root cause of the problem.
“As a lot of time we focus on solving issues that are actually just one of many symptoms of a cause much deeper than what we can see on first sight. So, it makes sense to identify it, and then spend all the time and budget focused on eradicating the symptom on rectifying the root cause. In addition, dive deep into the interests of all stakeholders, and please include nature as a stakeholder too. Also, think quick-wins and long-term when it comes to problem solving – you don’t want it to reappear again in another disguise after a few years, or once another leader, board or government is in charge.”
