Uber has launched Uber Ski in Finland, a winter-ready ride option designed for people travelling with skis, snowboards, and bulky winter gear. The launch is carried out in partnership with the White Winters programme. The collaboration aims to support smoother access to winter destinations while also promoting more sustainable mobility choices across Finland’s winter tourism hubs.

Uber Ski rides can be booked directly in the Uber app and are operated with vehicles equipped with ski racks or extra cargo space. This makes it easier to travel with equipment, especially during peak holiday weeks when parking and private car logistics can be challenging.

The service is available in Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Kuusamo, Kuopio, and Jyväskylä, and it covers routes between winter travel hubs and nearby ski resorts, including:

“It’s great to bring Uber Ski to Finland and offer the service in Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Kuusamo, Kuopio, and Jyväskylä – key hubs for winter tourism,” said Peter Löfstrand, Head of Uber Nordics. “Uber Ski works for trips to Lapland’s ski resorts, a day at nearby slopes, or getting around the city with winter gear. We aim to make getting around easier and reduce the time spent on transport arrangements, so people have more time to enjoy their winter days.”

Resort representatives welcomed the service as an additional way to enhance the winter travel experience. They noted that it can reduce time spent on transfers and logistics.

“People come to Levi to experience an Arctic winter – skiing, outdoor activities, and Lapland experiences beyond the slopes,” said Marko Mustonen, Commercial Director at Levi Ski Resort. “Smooth travel with winter gear is important, and services like Uber Ski make it easier to get around and give guests more time to enjoy their visit.”

“Easy and seamless connections from nearby cities and their train stations and airports to Ruka and Pyhä benefit our customers,” said Antti Kärävä, CEO of Ruka and Pyhä resorts. “It’s good that travel services are expanding and offer more flexible options for each traveller’s needs. That way, our guests can spend more time skiing and enjoying other northern experiences up on the fells.”

What is Uber Ski?

Uber Ski is designed for winter sports travel and offers rides that can accommodate equipment. Vehicles typically include a rack or platform that fits up to four pairs of skis or two snowboards. If travellers have more gear than that, they may need to book more than one vehicle.

In partnership with White Winters

Through the partnership with White Winters, the launch connects winter mobility with broader sustainability goals. White Winters is a sustainability-focused programme and collaboration network. It is a joint initiative by Ski Sport Finland and Solved, and it forms part of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) global sustainability strategy. The collaboration aims to improve accessibility in winter destinations and encourage responsible travel solutions, with the aim of supporting more resilient winter tourism in the future.
